WELCOME!
We are so glad you are here! The Levittown Seaford Wantagh Democratic Club (Long Island, NY) welcomes Democrats and like-minded individuals from our towns and neighboring communities. Whether you are brand new to local politics or have been involved for years, you have a place with us. We invite you to attend a meeting, introduce yourself, and join the conversation, or simply observe to get a feel for what we’re all about.
Membership helps keep our club going. It allows us to organize, support candidates, and stay engaged in important political and community issues. We encourage you to join and help sustain our work, but membership is never required to attend meetings or participate. Everyone is welcome. (Please see the information below for membership details.)
As we look ahead to the 2026 election, we have some truly dedicated candidates stepping up to run, and that is not easy in today’s political climate. We are grateful to everyone willing to run and serve our communities. Now we need to do our part by supporting their campaigns, reaching voters, having conversations, and helping get out the vote.
We are actively supporting campaigns for Town of Hempstead Supervisor, Town of Hempstead Clerk, New York State Senate District 5, New York State Assembly Districts 14 and 17, and Nassau County Legislative Districts 13 and 15. We are also supporting candidates for Congress in Districts 3 and 4, as well as New York State Governor, Attorney General, and Comptroller. Our U.S. Senators and Town Council seats are not on the ballot this year.
These races matter because this is where everything starts. Down-ballot offices shape daily life in real and immediate ways. Schools, taxes, infrastructure, public safety, quality of life issues, and how resources are used are all influenced by decisions made close to home. But the impact doesn’t stop there. Down-ballot wins build momentum, strengthen party infrastructure, develop future leaders, and increase voter engagement. The Republican Party has spent years investing in these races, building networks, and turning out voters. That foundation has helped them win national elections.
We need to do the same. We cannot afford to be complacent and ignore any level of government.
People are frustrated. We see the energy at protests and share the concerns about where our democracy is headed. Real change, however, will only be possible by winning elections. That takes strong candidates and people willing to support them by getting involved and helping them to succeed.
And ultimately, this is not just about party labels and agendas. It is about supporting capable, committed candidates who believe in responsible government, transparency, and the wise use of public resources. It requires a broad coalition of people who may not fully agree on everything but agree that integrity and competence matter.
If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, the moment is now.
We invite you to come to our next meeting. Meet your neighbors, learn about the issues, share your ideas, and find a way to be part of something meaningful.
Below you’ll find information about the candidates we are supporting.
We hope to see you soon!

OUR AMAZING CANDIDATES

Joe Scianablo for Town of Hempstead Supervisor

We’re so excited Joe Scianablo is running for Town of Hempstead Supervisor! As a Marine combat veteran, retired NYPD officer, former prosecutor, and dad, Joe has spent his life serving others. Now he’s stepping up to lead the largest township in America, and a race of this scale takes real community support. Joe’s campaign is centered on accountability, responsible leadership, and the belief that no community should be left behind. Those are exactly the qualities he’ll bring to the role. Hearing directly from residents is central to Joe’s campaign, so we encourage you to take a minute to share your thoughts in his survey below. If you’re able, please also consider making a contribution to his campaign. Every dollar helps reach more voters and build the momentum needed to win and bring real change to the Town of Hempstead.

Andrew Piddoubny for NY Senate District 5

We’re also excited to support Andrew Piddoubny for State Senate. Spend a few minutes talking with Andrew and it’s clear he understands what this district needs and genuinely wants to make things better for local families. A Wantagh resident, husband, and devoted father of twin boys, Andrew is deeply invested in building a safer and more affordable future for our community. He serves as a law clerk to a New York State Supreme Court Justice in the Guardianship Part, where his work helps protect some of Nassau County’s most vulnerable residents. A proud Ukrainian-American, Andrew is the immediate past president and current Board member of the Ukrainian American Bar Association. He brings thoughtfulness, integrity, and a strong sense of service to this race. To qualify for New York State matching funds, Andrew must receive donations between $5 and $250 from at least 150 residents of the district. If you’re able, please consider making a contribution to help his campaign reach that important milestone.

David L.B. Smith for Nassau District 15

David L.B. Smith’s connection to our community started 24 years ago, when he fell in love with a Wantagh girl, and soon after, with Wantagh itself. An actor, educator, and proud dad, David brings energy, optimism, and a commitment to serving others. His experience spans working as a Juvenile Detention Officer, teaching fifth grade in a high-needs New York public school as a member of the American Federation of Teachers, and building and successfully running his own small business. He also served as President of a nursing school, where he saw firsthand the financial and personal challenges higher education can place on students and families. Nassau County helped raise his daughter, and now David is stepping up to give back. He is focused on listening, leading, and delivering for District 15.
